The business
Since its launch in 2002, Novafruit has become an internationally renowned leader for its expertise in the development of strawberry growing systems in northern climates. Our methods, now adopted by the industry, have permitted to extend the harvesting season and to improve the quality of fruit produced in Quebec.
The Service
We strive to recommend techniques that best suit your needs and to offer the appropriate plants respecting the highest quality standards of the market. Every year, Novafruit introduces and evaluates through its network, new varieties from around the world in order to offer you the best cultivars available. The owner, Simon Parent, regularly visits growers and researchers abroad in order to adapt the most recent techniques and transfer them into our industry. He is very much involved at all the levels of the production chain, all the way from hybridisation to fruit commercialisation, and is part of several committees and work groups. He was the President of the North American Strawberry Growers Association (NASGA) from 2010 to 2012 and sits in the coordination chamber of the Quebec Strawberries and Raspberries Growers Association (APFFQ) in order to participate in the sector's development.
The technique
Growing techniques are developing quickly around the world and California growers have now become our main competitors year round. In order to maintain their own competitive advantages, local growers inevitably need to adapt their production methods to the market's new realities. To cope with these multiple changes, it appears clear to us that the profitability of berry cultures is obtained through more efficient labour, an extended production season, and a better uniformity in the quality of our fruits. To reach these objectives, it is necessary to review in depth all of the production chain, all the way from the nursery to the final consumer. It is in that perspective that Novafruit was born, aiming at making the local industry more performing and contributing to the development of its competitiveness.
The quality
Novafruit continually renews its plant supply by offering new types of plants and varieties to its clients each year. Every year, we introduce new selections into our trials in partnership with the best international hybridation programs. By concentrating all its resources and efforts in the development of plant material adapted to the local climate, Novafruit guarantees the best quality of plants on the market. Our objective is to constantly adapt our products in order for them to always respond to the evolution of your actual and future needs.
